During long drvies that involve many hours on roads which people don’t frequent, I often find myself in the middle of the road. Staring at the yellow lines becomes very hypnotic.

I had been itching to jump ship and go off the map for a couple of days. Decided Death Valley would do perfectly. Was fortunate enough to get engulfed by a sand/duststorm the first day there. Made for some awesome photos which can’t be replicated any other way.

If you remember, about a year ago, I bought a pair of wood sunglasses from a company named Shwood. Then about a month ago I came across a blog spotlighting this company Monolith. They were going to be releasing a wooden iPhone backplate replacement for the iPhone 4 and 4s. Being such a huge fan of nature inspired things in our very digital world, naturally I was very excited. I joined the mailing list to be notified when they were available, and finally last week I received an email saying they are finally out. Seconds after receiving that email I put an order in for mine. A nice dark walnut wood to match my east indian rosewood sunglasses :) The backplate came in the mail yesterday and holy shit is this thing sexy. Remember this isn’t a case or a sticker you put over your phone. This is a full backplate replacement incorporating a real piece of wood. I am beyond stoked on how awesome it looks. Do yourself a favor and get one of these bad boys. As of right now they have 3 flavors; Walnut / Teak / Oak. There are talks of introducing more flavors in later months.
