This was the first time I had ever been scuba diving. I had always wanted to get certified and go around here, in California, but just never got around to it. Once this trip was planned I looked into getting certified and was pretty shocked that it cost $350 to complete the course and get your certification. Scuba diving is far from cheap and lets just say I’m not Mr. money bags. I talked to Cory, my friend whose Dad owns the island, about if it was possible to not get certified and still go diving. He said it would not be a problem because all the diving would be done on our own and not through any company. He just suggested that I read the books and then we could have a crash course in his pool before we left. Reading, check. Pool crash course, check. Fast forward a couple of days and here I am jumping off a boat into the atlantic ocean to scuba dive for the first time.
I got a couple of dives under my belt before bringing my camera under with me. I also had to stay shallower than everyone else because the housing I have for my camera is intended for surfing, not diving.
So this is dive 1 with my camera. It’s definitely a little more tricky than I thought it was going to be. Mostly for the fact that my housing wanted to float up so I had to constantly fight to hold it down.
Part 2 and 3 will follow soon.
a peak at chris’ bug bites. apparently mine were worse than this haha
here is a video of the cay i stayed on. it was called coco plum cay. my friend cory’s dad owns the property and he was nice enough to let us stay there and be our dive master.
the video is just me walking around on the island showing whats what. more for the people who have asked me what it was like
play it in hd if it’s not already defaulted at it
haha i am pretty happy that that^^^ is what the main image for this video is
Got back on Sunday from a 2 week trip to Roatan, Honduras.
Felt good to get out of the country and travel a bit. It had been 4 years since I had been on an airplane.
Going to post a few pictures from the trip over the next couple of days. Maybe even a video… maybe
