about to leave for santa barbara to go see the world premiere for the surfing / climbing / adventure movie 180 south. directed by chris malloy and featuring jeff johnson
back in the summer of 2008 i worked with jeff, the star of this film / author of the 180 south book coming out / and photographer, in editing pictures from the trip for use in his book. while working with him he showed me the movie, Mountain of Storms, which is a movie yvon chouinard and doug tompkins made back in ’68 documenting their trip from ventura down to patagonia. this is the film that inspired chris malloy and him to set out to do this trip, but in their own way.
it was such a tease to see the stunning pictures from the trip, and the movie that inspired it all and not be able to see the movie until now. so i have been waiting awhile for this movie / book to come out and i am super stoked to finally see it.
huge props go out to jeff cause i know hes been working hard on this project. oh and to everyone else involved in the making of it.
